Under the Full Moon

I met Emma at a women’s retreat in Costa Rica. After the retreat she wanted to do 1:1 photo session capturing her newly invigorated energy! The evening we scheduled to shoot also happened a full moon. One of Emma’s visions was to get photos with a Ceiba tree, being held by nature as she had felt during her time in Costa Rica.

We started the session easing into the environment, feeling into the energy of the jungle and the ocean. After tuning in and creating an intention for the photoshoot we headed to the ceiba tree.

As I noticed the golden light filtering through the trees, I asked Emma if she would like to head back to the beach to capture some shots of her with the ocean and the beautiful environment around the beach.

I noticed some waves crashing against these shallow rocks and thought if it was safe for Emma to get there, we could get some amazing photos!

It was a fun and tricky balance between getting beautiful, dramatic photos with waves crashing, not soaking all of my camera gear, and Emma being able to stay calm and pose while getting battered with waves! I know I’m biased— but I think we did an excellent job of balancing all of the elements and creating beautiful art! When Emma was sufficiently soaked by the waves, we decided to head back to the shore. At this moment the sky light up with glorious colors before the moon rise.

One of my favorite shots from the evening was at the very end. This moment to me Emma is an embodiment of freedom. Hair blowing in the wind. Head tilted back. Right at the edge of the ocean. Feeling the Caribbean breeze. When we finished up shooting we enjoyed the moon rise, howled at the moon— and I ended up going for an impromptu swim! The evening couldn’t have been more perfect.

Choose Em if you want to be witnessed and treasured in your own wild woman. Over the course of two photo shoots in Costa Rica, Em created this extraordinary kinship between us, nature, and the camera lens. The end photos were magical and even on a day where old insecurities crept up, Em made me feel so at ease. I’d recommend her for any photoshoot wholeheartedly.
