Mariposa Metamorphosis
Jessy has the energy of a butterfly— free flowing, shining bright, joyous. When she stepped in front of my lens, for only a few moments— I wanted to portray that essence, her sweet, yet multifaceted nature. Every butterfly goes through the caterpillar stage, a metamorphosis and this shoot shows the different sides of Jessy, and different stages of metamorphosis we experience as humans. It’s not always joy and peace, theres duality, there is hardships and grief we face as well, and how beautiful when we can surrender to it all.
“From the bottom of my heart, being photographed by Emily was so much more than just a photoshoot. It felt like being truly seen for who I am — beyond the surface, beyond the body, beyond any expectations. With her, I could completely let go. I felt safe. I felt held. I felt free. There was a moment when I forgot about the camera, forgot about how I looked, and simply allowed myself to be. Emily has this calm, grounding presence that makes you feel like you are the only person in the world. She is fully there, fully present, and deeply connected. What touches me the most is that she doesn’t just capture an image — she captures the soul. When I look at the photos, I don’t just see a version of myself. I see my truth. I see my vulnerability. I see my strength. I can literally feel the energy of that moment again. Emily has a rare and beautiful gift: she sees the naked soul of a human being — and she knows how to translate it into art.
